Notary Public
Suffern Free Library offers free Notary Public services in accordance with the following guidelines:
- Appointments: Call (845) 357-1237 to schedule. Walk-ins served based on notary availability.
- Requirements: Patron must appear in person, show valid government photo ID, and sign in the Notary’s presence.
- Service Limitations: No virtual/electronic notarizations. Max 10 documents per person per day.
- Communication: Notary and patron must communicate directly; translators are not allowed.
- Document Language: Non-English documents may be declined at the Notary’s discretion.
- Document Readiness: Forms must be complete, except for signatures.
- Witnesses: Not provided by the library. Witnesses must appear with valid ID and sign in person.
- Excluded Documents: No notarization of deeds, real estate documents, wills, trusts, divorce papers, immigration/I-9 forms, or vital records.
- Right to Refuse: Notary may decline service if there are concerns about authenticity, legality, or ambiguity.
