Donating to the Library

Make a Donation

Culturally and educationally significant, the Suffern Library is a valuable resource. Your donation will help us continue to meet the expanding needs of our community.

Please consider including Suffern Library in your 2024 donations. We accept monetary donations by credit card, check or cash. You may drop your donation off at the Library or mail it to Suffern Free Library, 210 Lafayette Ave., Suffern, NY 10901.

To make a general donation to the library via credit card, click the button below.

This can be a donation in someone’s honor or memory. Once you click on the button, you will have a space that asks “Reason for the donation” and you can indicate the person’s name.

Donating Materials

The Suffern Free Library accepts donations of new and used books, CDs, movies and CD ROMs. These donated materials are sorted by volunteers and sold in our daily lobby sale and our periodic big Book Sales. Donations are accepted during regular library hours, and materials can be dropped off in the back of the building. Follow the “Delivery” signs in the parking lot and drive around to the back of the building to drop off your donations. The Library provides donation receipts upon request.

Association Membership

The Suffern Free Library is a free association library that relies, in part, upon contributions from members of the Association for its support. This membership entitles you to attend exclusive library events. Download your association membership form and mail it to us with your check. You may also pick up a form at the check-out desk.

Memorial Gifts & Bequests

You can make a gift to the Library in someone’s honor or memory. A gift to the Library to purchase books is a lasting tribute that can be shared with many. To make a gift, download this form and return it to the reference or check out desk. The Library will put the gift plate in the book(s) selected and will send an acknowledgement to the person or family of the individual being honored.

In addition, if you are interested in leaving a bequest or making a stock transfer to the Library, contact the Library Director, Carol Connell Cannon, or your lawyer. Previous gifts and bequests have funded the garden, the library café, the sundial and furniture purchases.

Gift Policy

The Suffern Free Library welcomes and actively solicits gifts of money, equipment, furnishing and other property from businesses, organizations and individuals at the discretion of the Library Director. Please review our Gifts and Donations Policy for complete details.

Sponsoring Programs & Equipment Purchase

The Suffern Free Library welcomes contributions to pay for programs and equipment. Sponsorship allows us to offer added-value services and events that the Library could otherwise not afford. Donations have helped purchase our sculptures, demonstration mirror and the fun furniture in the Children’s Room pictured above.

The Book Sale Group has sponsored the Children’s Summer Reading Programs (which services over 900 children and their families) purchased the grand piano, contributed towards a dance floor, and paid for this website. Every time you make even a small donation, you become a member of a great team of volunteers.
