Program Guidelines:
As a volunteer you are part of the library staff. The following will be expected of you at all times:

Attendance:

• We’re depending on you to be here when you’re scheduled. Promptness is expected.
• If for any reason you’re unable to work, or you’re going to be late, notify the program coordinator.
• Adequate notice must be given for any planned absences.

Volunteer Badge:

• All teen volunteers will receive a badge which must be worn when you are working. This identifies you as a volunteer to both patrons and staff.

Dress:

• You will be required to dress appropriately for public service.
• Attire should be appropriate for the assigned work and according to reasonable community standards. In general, the following guidelines apply:
• Garments should be neat and clean, and cover sufficiently to avoid undue exposure of the body and undergarments. Ripped or dirty clothes should not be worn.
• Personal fragrances should be used only in reasonable moderation.
• Obscene, profane, political, threatening, or sexually suggestive attire may not be worn.
• Casual clothing that includes sweatpants, flip flops, and/or shorts should be avoided.

Conduct:

• Friendly, courteous service is expected at all times. A pleasant demeanor should be presented to all patrons and library staff members.
• Do not bring friends or relatives with you to work.
• Keep visiting to a minimum. It’s ok to say “hi!” to your friends if you see them, but remind them you are working and cannot talk.
• NO headphones.
• NO phone use except for health reasons or emergencies.
