“Stay-Home” Resources, Activities, and Books for Kids

During this time of “at-home” iLearning, the Library’s Children’s Department has many resources for you and your children.

  1. We are able to answer your Children’s Reference Questions by email. Simply email Miss Jennifer at jknoerze@rcls.org.
  2. Storytime: We continue to offer storytimes each week available on the Library’s FaceBook page. Storytimes are posted two times a week.

Story Times

Join us for our seasonal weekly story times where your kids will enjoy being read to, singing songs and creating a story specific craft.  Newborns through 4 year olds are invited to register in January, June and September.*

Elementary Explorers

Each month kids will explore new topics using books, crafts, science, technology and more. Programs are held on Thursday(Kindergarten-3rd grade).

Microscope

Discovery Zone

Each month kids between 3-5 years old will explore new topics using books, crafts, science, technology and more. Program is held on Thursdays at 2:00 pm.

Arts & Craft Clubs

 Arts & Crafts Clubs for Kindergarten & up is held the first Thursday of the month from 4:30-5:00.

Arts & Crafts for 3-5 year olds is held the fourth Wednesday of the month from 4:30-5:00.

Book Discussion

Book Discussions

Kids in grades 4-6 will enjoy meeting with peers to discuss the book of the month. The group meets once a month in the evening. Kids get to keep the books after the discussion. Registration dates are noted in the calendar of events. *

Homework Help

Need help with school? The Library has 14 databases including encyclopedias, magazines, atlases, biographies, newspapers, language help, science help…and so much more. Use your Suffern Library card to get started.

Events

Children’s events are generally open to residents of the Suffern Central School District. All registration is done online. Registration for most events begins one week in advance, unless otherwise noted. “Walk-In” events or “Drop-In” events do not require registration. Please call us if you need help with the registration at 845-357-1237.

Virtual Storytimes

Tuesday/Wednesday & Friday/Saturday

We post storytimes twice a week.  You can watch along with us as we read stories and do a craft.  They are posted on our calendar of events or you can receive it in an email, just sign up-This month see December 23 to register.
